Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript Submission Guidelines – ARKHAS: Journal of Arabic Language Teaching

Language and Format
Manuscripts should be written in Arabic or English (English is preferred). The manuscript must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf), and should not exceed 6,000 words. Use A4 paper size, single-column layout, and adhere to the following font and spacing standards:

  • Arabic text: Traditional Arabic font, size 18, line spacing 1.0

  • English text: Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.15

All manuscripts must present original research and demonstrate a significant contribution to the field of Arabic language teaching.

Manuscript Structure

  1. Title

    • Must be written in both Arabic and English.

    • Should be clear, concise (max. 15 words), and informative, reflecting the formal object, material object, and context of the study.

    • English title: Times New Roman, 14pt, spacing 1.15

    • Arabic title: Traditional Arabic, 20pt, spacing 1.0

  2. Author's Name and Affiliation

    • Full name (without academic titles or honorifics)

    • Include full institutional affiliation and a valid email address

    • For group authorship, provide complete contact details for all contributors

  3. Abstract

    • Required in English and Arabic; Indonesian is optional

    • 150–200 words

    • Must include:

      • Introduction (rationale and literature gap)

      • Aims and Scope

      • Methods (type, location, and data collection/analysis)

      • Results (novelty and core findings)

      • Conclusion (summary of key findings and significance)

  4. Keywords

    • 3 to 6 relevant keywords or key phrases

    • Separated by commas

  5. Introduction
    Should include five structured paragraphs:

    • Background of the Study

    • Literature Review

    • Gap Analysis

    • Rationale of the Study

    • Research Objectives or Hypotheses
      Use APA 6th Edition for in-text citations.

  6. Methods
    Presented in three paragraphs and must explain:

    • The rationale for choosing the research focus

    • The type of study and nature of data

    • Data sources and sampling method

    • Data collection techniques

    • Data analysis procedures and stages

  7. Results and Discussion

    • Results: Describe the phenomenon, influencing factors, and implications

    • Discussion: Consists of five parts:

      1. Summary of findings

      2. Reflection on causes

      3. Interpretation of consequences

      4. Comparison with prior studies

      5. Conceptual, methodological, or policy recommendations

  8. Conclusion
    Should consist of three paragraphs:

    • Key findings aligned with the research focus

    • Conceptual, methodological, or theoretical contributions

    • Study limitations and recommendations for future research

  9. Acknowledgments
    Express gratitude to individuals, institutions, or funding bodies that supported the research.

  10. References

    • Minimum of 30 references

    • Must be relevant, up-to-date (within the last 10 years), and scientifically valid

    • Use APA 7th Edition citation style via Mendeley

    • Include journal articles, books, and reputable online sources
