Retraction & Correction

MANAGIERE: Journal of Islamic Educational Management is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. While all manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review and editorial process, it is recognised that, in exceptional circumstances, published articles may require correction, retraction, removal, or replacement. Such actions are undertaken with strict adherence to ethical standards and in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), to preserve trust in the journal’s academic record.

Article Retraction

MANAGIERE will consider retracting a published article if:

  1. There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to misconduct (e.g., data fabrication or falsification) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation or methodological flaws).
  2. The article constitutes redundant publication without proper citation, permission, or justification.
  3. The article involves ethical violations, including plagiarism or inappropriate authorship.

The retraction process follows COPE guidelines and includes:

  • Identification of potential issues by editors or third parties
  • Investigation by the editorial team, including communication with the authors
  • Review by the Editorial Board or Ethics Committee where necessary
  • A final decision communicated to the authors and relevant institutions (if applicable)
  • Publication of a formal retraction notice linked to the original article

Retraction notices will remain permanently accessible and clearly indicate the reasons for retraction.

Article Correction

MANAGIERE may issue corrections when:

  1. Minor errors are identified that do not invalidate the overall findings of the article
  2. Author or contributor information requires amendment

Corrections are classified as:

  • Erratum (Publisher Correction): errors introduced during the publication process
  • Corrigendum (Author Correction): errors made by the authors
  • Addendum: additional information or clarification that complements the original work

All corrections are formally published and linked to the original article to ensure transparency.

Article Removal

In rare and exceptional cases, an article may be removed from the journal’s online platform if:

  • It is defamatory or infringes legal rights
  • It is subject to a legal order
  • It poses a serious risk to public health or safety

In such cases, the article’s metadata will remain accessible, while the full text will be replaced with a notice explaining the reason for removal.

Article Replacement

If a published article is found to contain serious errors that may affect public safety or scholarly validity, authors may request retraction and replacement with a corrected version. In such cases:

  • The retraction procedure will be followed
  • A corrected version will be published
  • A clear link between the original and revised versions will be provided

Compliance and Responsibility

Authors do not have the unilateral right to retract their published work. All decisions regarding retraction, correction, removal, or replacement are made by the editorial team in accordance with COPE guidelines, prioritising the integrity of the scholarly record.

Policy Review

This policy is periodically reviewed and updated to align with evolving ethical standards and international best practices, including those of COPE, Scopus, and DOAJ.
